Match Notes
The livestream footage of the match skips about 4 minutes in the second half, and therefore the goal kicker for one of Argentina's missed conversions is not known.
In the final minutes of the game, with the scores being 44-20, Brazil's Vinicius Candido Silva made a line break from their own half, running down the sideline until Argentina's Rodrigo Molina came across to tackle him about 15 metres from the try line. Candido Silva offloaded the ball to Brendon Saimon, who knocked it on. Saimon then inadvertently tripped Marcelo Villalba, who retaliated by tackling Saimon from behind, prompting a scuffle between both teams. Villalba was sin binned, and although the scuffle occurred after a knock on, referee Juan Blumetti appears to have awarded a penalty try for Brazil (doing so by raising his arm as if for a try in rugby union). No conversion for the penalty try was attempted by Brazil (as is the rule in rugby union) 6 points were award despite no goal being kicked. The game restarted normally with Argentina kicking off. The livestream graphic continued to show the scoreline as 44-20, however, both teams reported the final score as 44-26 on social media.
