Biography

Adelaide-born, with a grounding in Australian Rules and Rugby Union, Rex Harrison proved to be a valued clubman as a pivot with Norths. Starting in 1938, he partnered fellow Norths halfback Roy Thompson in six consecutive NSW matches - a club record that still stands. Joining the AIF his career came to a standstill during the war (despite playing in Combined Services matches) but he resumed playing in 1945 until he suffered a broken collarbone in the second last match of the 1946 season. After his retirement Harrison coached Norths to the semi-finals in 1954 while his son Peter Harrison also played first grade for the Bears in the 1960s.

Additional Notes

Served in World War II as a Corporal for the AIF.
