Biography

Former Queensland forward played in the great Balmain teams that won premierships in 1916-17, 1919-20 and 1924. Fraser, who was not related to champion Tigers fullback 'Chook' Fraser, came from Townsville in 1916 having represented his state three years before against NZ. He played for NSW against NZ in 1919 and against England in 1920 but despite also playing in the 1921 and 1923 interstate series did not achieve Test selection. (The closest Fraser got was a place in a ‘Rest of the World’ team against the Kangaroos in 1922). Alf ‘Son’ Fraser was also the club's first non-playing coach (1925-29) and later a State and Australian selector.
