Biography

Souths forward made his international debut in the Second Test against England in Brisbane in 1932. Distinctive with his shock of wild, curly hair, O’Connor saved Australia’s famous, 15-6 victory when, at a crucial stage of the match, he tackled English centre Stan Brogden over the tryline and knocked the ball out of his hands. O’Connor appeared in the third and deciding Test in Sydney before touring with the 1933-34 Kangaroos. On tour he played in 16 matches, including the first two Tests against England. A premiership-winner at Souths in 1929 and 1931-32, Frank O’Connor passed away in 1964.
