Biography

Magpie lock was a reserve for NSW in 1950, the year Wests lost to Souths in the premiership final. McLean, who started his career with Norths in the 1940s, represented NSW again in 1951. He captained Wests in the 1952 grand final and was a try-scorer in the club’s controversial, 22-12 win against Souths. McLean is the father of Manly’s 1968 grand final winger Michael McLean.
