Imogene Cocoa says: Ackland hailing from Auckland was one of NZRL's all-time best forwards (Team of the Century). Has stints in country NSW at the end of his career and coached the NZ Kiwi team in 1977. (28/05/2012)
ernie ball says: I was playing for City Newton when Ron and his brother Jim transferred from Mt.Albert Rugby League Club. I have been a life long League Tragic and in my humble opinion,Ron Ackland is our Greatest 2nd row forward up to and including the present day. RIP Ron. (28/10/2013)

A great footballer, who gave his very best to his teams and his country. Ron was loved by all he played with and coached here in NZ as well as Goulburn and Inverell in Australia.
