    One of the greatest players I have seen. Tough, skillful, and afraid of no-one. Out of Chinchilla, he played for Wynnum-Manly and for an extended period for Past Brothers from which is he most remembered.

    I played against John in a trial match at Corbett Park in the late 70’s He absolutely smashed me, so happy I did not have to play against him again. What a player he was, clean and fearless
