Brian Fitzsimmons was brought to Brothers Rugby Gladstone as a player captain/ coach in 1969. Fitzy and his wife worked hard to get a team together. They had an international as coach but very few players.
There were two lean years but in 1971 the hard work of Fitzy and the president Frank Murray paid off and Brothers won their first premiership.
In 1972 he left and took up a position with Brothers , Brisbane.

One of the very best ball winning hookers when scrums were scrums. He was so good that NSW gave him ‘special attention’ to limit those skills in every interstate game.
