    Tom English was a fine athlete,
    and as a professional runner was
    known throughout Australia. Not
    only did he win important handicaps,
    but when his days of competition were
    over he devoted a lot of time and
    thought to the sport.
    Tom Played On Wing. Born at Muringo, near Young, English later went to Albury and Wagga.
    At Wagga he played on the wing for
    the Southern team against the Eng
    lishmen in 1928 And Played again for Riverina against the 1932 Great Britain Lions at Wagga Wagga
    At Albury he was largely responsible for the Introduction of the
    League code In an area where only
    Australian Rules football had been
    known.
    In 1934 he was appointed secretary
    of the Country League and held the position until his untimely death in 1940.Tom was a highly popular and respected Administrator and was well on his way to a long and important role in Australia Rugby League
