Dennis was a pupal at Ninian Park Secondary Modern School. I do not think the school had a rugby team so his achievement was all the more amazing.
I attended the same school and there was no rugby when i was there, Dennis was a year or two below me
and an excellent athlete

I had the honour of playing many times with Dennis in the Royal Marines. He captained Devonport Services for at least 3 seasons. He was allowed to play Union but only for Services sides. He was chosen to play for Public School Wanderers, an invitation side against Plymouth Albion. He was in the changing room getting ready to play when an official arrived and told him that he could not play for a civilian rugby club due to his rugby league career. A gentleman and a great player.
