Wayne Abdy was one of the greatest players Brothers had. He played as Lock for brothers, Brisbane and Queensland. He was the fastest forward in Australia and his attack and defence was outstanding.

I always remenber looking out for number 8 on Brothers' team as Wayne was/is one of my greatest foorball heroes. i would love to back to those days as a kid watching Wayne Abdy, Barry Dowling, Reg Cannon, Johnny Gleeson, Dennis Mantiet, Len Dittmar, Johnny Smith, the greatest half back with a crew cut, Peter Gallagher, Brian Firzsimmons (the greatest hooker ever), eric Gelling, Grahame Cronk, Brian Milburn and Noel Cavanagh etc.

He had a younger brother, Rod who was our captain at St James Christian Brothers College in 1971 when we won the Combined Catholic Colleges competition
