This game became known as the Battle of Brisbane MkII due to the way the game was played 5 Australian players suffered facial injuries Ron Lynch a depressed fracture of the cheekbone, Jim Morgan, Arthur Beetson & Graeme Langland all had broken noses and John Wittenberg a badly gashed eye.
Ron Lynch was replaced by Col Weiss in the 1st half.
