Biography

Talented but volatile Brisbane winger/centre made his State of Origin debut for Queensland in 2001. Walker showed his class in scoring four tries in three matches during the Maroons’ series win but was dropped from the Broncos’ first grade squad after an off-field indiscretion in Townsville after the season opener in 2002. On the outer with coach Wayne Bennett, despite another Origin series, Walker linked with Souths in 2003 but walked out on the club after only 5 matches. He quickly found a place with the Roosters, playing for a nominal fee in 2003 before signing a long-term contract. Walker was released by the club in 2005, after appearances in the 2003-04 grand finals, but after joining Melbourne in 2006, he again walked out on his contract to return home to Queensland.
