Biography

It is hard to believe that the same player who had such an inauspicious stay with grand finalists Balmain in 1989 would later go on to captain both Great Britain in an Ashes series and champion English club Wigan. The cheeky pivot played in eight consecutive Challenge Cup successes with the Wigan club (1988-95) and captained his country in the First Test of the 1994 Kangaroo Tour. Edwards seemed to self-destruct when he was sent from the field for a high tackle on Bradley Clyde but Great Britain went on to record a memorable 8-4 win with 12 men. Despite Edwards' return, the Ashes ultimately stayed with Australia in the deciding two Tests of the series.
