Easts lost winger Jim Porter with a pulled hamstring & prop Jim Morgan with a head injury requiring further examination they were replaced by Alan Cardy & John Walker, Walker then pulled out and was replaced by Jim Hall.
Manly hooker Fred Jones withdrew following Thursday training due to a pinched nerve in his neck he was replaced by Max Krilich.
3 Easts players were sent off midway through the 2nd half Neumann for a high tackle, Peard & Quayle for punching.
Bob Batty left the field with a leg injury midway through the 1st half and was replaced by Keith Blackett. John Bucknell didn't return for the 2nd half due to a broken nose and was replaced by Lindsay Drake in the 2nd row with Norm Pounder moving to prop.
