Biography

Drummoyne RU centre played in 9 Tests during a brilliant amateur career in 1966-68. Cardy was an exceptional sprinter, winning three successive RU sprint championships, but joined Easts on a massive contract in 1969. He also recommended Wallaby team-mate John Brass to the club as a likely centre partner. Cardy broke his leg in the 1969 pre-season competition and while he did not take the field until the following year his professional career did not reach the heights he scaled in RU.

I saw him in the Waalabies v Cambridge University in the mid 1960s, throwing the ball into the line out side on with an overarm bowling action.

A brilliant wing three-quarter for the Wallabies. cost the Wallabies in a test match against the All Blacks in 1968when through no fault of his own made a great tackle that was deemed to be late. Controversially a penalty try was awarded and NZ won.
Should never ever have turned to league.
