Biography

Former Newcastle forward had the honour of scoring Super League club Hunter Mariners’ first try in a competition match in the 20-16 loss to C’bury in 1997. This may have been little consolation for Marquet, considering his former teammates won the ARL premiership that year, but he more than made up for it later in his career. Finding a home with the Melbourne Storm following the reunification of the game in 1998, he was a vital member of the club’s forward pack in the 20-18 win over St George I’warra in the 1999 grand final. 2001 saw Marquet return home to Newcastle and in a fitting end to his career, he came off the interchange bench in the club’s 30-24 win over P’matta in the grand final.
