Biography

Easts halfback, possessing great anticipation and speed, first represented NSW in 1965. Easts did not win a match the following year but in 1967 Junee played in two interstate matches and toured with the 1967-68 Kangaroos. He played in 10 matches on tour but his final rep match came the following year when he was a late call-up to the NSW team. Junee won the Rothmans Medal for best and fairest player in 1970 and later played in Easts' 1972 grand final loss to Manly. In 1974 he shifted to the Sea Eagles and was the season's leading try-scorer that year with 20 tries. Junee returned to Easts in 1976 before taking up coaching duties in the I’warra competition.

in an era when half backs had to be quick and nippy
kevin junee was the fastest player over 20mtrs that
played the game. scored many tries darting from the scrum base close to the line. played second
fiddle to billy smith for much of his career. great
    player.

In East Subs' annus horribilus (1966), when the dismal Roosters lost every game, Junee stood out like a singular beacon in the gloom. I still remember a shuddering tackle he put on Brian James after the Souths winger had cut a swathe
    through a feeble Easts defence.
