Biography

Strathfield junior was involved in an incident that led to the dismissal of St George forward Billy Wilson in the 1962 grand final. Playing in his first season in top grade, the Wests’ prop flattened rival forward Norm Provan before being on the receiving end of the 'even up' from Wilson, the St George captain. Cody went on to achieve veteran status with Wests over the next decade, returning to the club after spending the 1972 season at Nambucca Heads.

    Jimmy "feet" Cody. What a player!!

    Jim Cody was a 2nd Rower in the 1962 Grand Final, but played a lot of Lock Forward for the Magpies. Jim & Norm Proven had a running battle at Patten Park one afternoon, numerous punches flew and Norm was eventually sent off - not for fighting but for abusing the referee! Jim Cody was a great attacking & defensive player.

    Coached Griffith Warataths in 1974. A hard ront rower who could handle most situations.
