Biography
Great Britain (Whitehaven) forward made his Test debut as a 21-year-old on the 1958 Lions Tour of Australia. Huddart later shifted to St Helens and was ‘man of the match’ in the club's 1961 Challenge Cup victory. On tour with the 1962 Lions he tore the Australian team apart with his great defence and proved almost unstoppable with his bursts out wide. A 16-Test veteran, Huddart was signed by the champion St George club after the 1963-64 Kangaroo Tour but a succession of knee injuries kept him out of the club's run of grand final victories until 1966. The pacy second rower was a try-scorer in the Dragon's 23-4 win over Balmain but two years later, took on a captain-coach position with Dubbo. After two seasons with Macquarie United in the Newcastle competition Huddart returned to England in 1970-71 to play a final season with Whitehaven.

Your Say

Dick Huddart scored the first try in the knockout semi-final in 1968 against the Eastern Suburbs Roosters. It was also my first visit to the SCG to watch Rugby League. A great player Dick Huddart he played in the 2nd row that day. I seen him on old footage playing for Great Britain. A very tough man.
