It was not until Luke O’Donnell joined the North Queensland North Queensland in 2004 that hard-working backrower came to prominence. Following the North Queensland’ historic appearance in the 2004 finals series, O’Donnell represented City Origin in 2005 and was one of the form players of the club’s power pack that took the North Queensland to the grand final that year. Despite the North Queensland’ loss to his former Club O’Donnell was chosen in the Australian Test team and appeared in all five Tests in the 2005 Tri-Nations competition. Despite the North Queensland’ loss of form in 2006 O’Donnell was chosen in all six Tests on the international calendar, culminating in Australia’s 16-12 win in extra time of the Tri-Nations competition.
