Biography

Former Tumut fullback played a winning role in C’bury’s first premiership success in 1938. An exceptional goal-kicker, Kirk landed four goals in the 19-6 win over Easts in the final and made his debut for NSW the following year in the centres. Joining Newtown, he became the first player to kick 100 goals in a season (1943) including five in the 34-7 win over Norths in the grand final. Kirk was the season's leading point-scorer on five occasions, the last in 1946 after joining Norths. (He twice kicked a club record 11 goals during the 1944 season and also scored a club record 25pts in a match against St George that year). The first player to score 1000 career points in the Sydney premiership Kirk made a return to the NSW side in his final year in the Sydney competition.

Dad was also the first non-playing coach to win a premiership for temora in 1957 (group 9) also won the riverina championship defeating wagga magpies - that team won the clayton cup (best team in CRL) and dad won country coach of the year. (all these achievemtns are well documented)
