Match Notes

It seems strange that Castleford played a trialist in the back row for this game. Castleford had been playing Neil James (who was replaced in this game by the trialist) in the back row and had been winning. The Manchester Guardian didn't mention it in their report of the win. The Guardian also reported this game to have an attendance of 7908, while the Rothman's Annual as well as the Saints Heritage Society lists the crowd as 4844 (http://www.saints.org.uk/home/match.php?seq=3819).
