Jim Crellin resigned after Leigh's 50-9 victory over Chorley Borough in the Lancashire Cup, and Denis Ramsdale stepped in as interim coach (Rothman's RL Yearbook 1993/94). Steve Simms officially started the role on the 13th of November 1992 (Liverpool Echo 12/11/1992, p74).
