Hull KR centre who represented Great Britain during the 1968 World Cup later captained C’bury in 1971.

Canterbury paid a $9,700 transfer fee to English club Hull-Kingston Rovers at the start of the 1970 season for Burwell. He played his first game as a 2nd half replacement in the 4th round of the Wills Pre-Season Comp and scored a try.

    I played rugby union with Alan at Bradford, Each time he scored a try it was credited to me as it was considered politic to do so at the time due to the amateur, professional , conflict,
    It would not have done to see him mentioned so often even under the name he was using , someone was sure to get suspicious, happy times.

    I was on a coaching course at Lillesall. Alan Burwell was on the same course. He was so helpful to everyone on and off the field throughout the week.
