    If I recall
    He was responsible for marking the in goal with diagonal stripes.
    He was a green keeper and looked after the ground

    I new Merv from younger days in Tamworth, believe we both went to the Tamworth Police Boys Club. I can remember making a rep side in Tamworth with Merv and we played a Sydney team, eastern suburbs team and they thrashed us 48 / 0. Merv won the best player on our side that day. I have a photo with Merv in that team.

    Great workhorse a player who never shirked the hard yards and was always there when the going got tuff injuries put a end to his future as a chocolate soldier a player who everyone loved to play with had Penrith park always in great condition was a innovative with the football markings

    Friend always willing to put up his hand played tough and could unload a good ball well liked and a player everyone loved to play with a major injury put his syd football on hold but did play and coach very successful in and around the Tamworth area worked liked he played
