Biography
South African RU winger and goal-kicker extraordinaire shifted from Rugby’s amateur ranks to play for St Helens in 1965. Killeen got a first-hand view of the 1967-68 Kangaroos in England and decided that Australia was the place to play rugby league. Signing with Balmain he established a club record 207 points (9t, 84g, 6fg) during the club's premiership winning season in 1969 - surpassing the great Keith Barnes. Killeen's kicking style - placing the ball upright with an ultra-quick walk-up - was seen to good effect in the Tigers’ shock, 11-2 win over Souths in the infamous 1969 grand final. He saw out his career at Penrith in 1972 before returning to South Africa.

I saw Len Killeens fist match for Balmain at the old Sydney
Sports Ground,he was standing on the Balmain 25 yard line right next to the sideline.South Sydney kicked off and the ball was caught by Killeen,he calmly kicked a field goal much to the amazement of the South Sydney players their was a hurried conference and the ball was kept well away from Killeen for the rest of the game.
