Biography

After twice returning to the juniors the lightweight Souths prop's grade career ended with a broken leg in 1962. In 1966 Gibson took over from George Ball as Souths secretary and was at the helm when the club won four premierships between 1967 and 1971 and was named co-manager of the 1973 Kangaroos. Souths later battled insolvency during the 1970s but Gibson's career came undone when he was chosen as manager of the Penrith football club in 1980 by the NSWRL. In 1983 he was dumped when Penrith Leagues Club took over the running of the football club but successfully sued the club for breach of contract.
