Biography

Aggressive centre (also a fullback and lock) had a reputation for being an on-field ‘spoiler’ with two clubs before moving to Balmain. Pobjie, who started his career with his brother Kevin at Newtown, had been released from his contract with English club Salford due to lack of form but knew exactly what was needed at Balmain under former Newtown coach Warren Ryan. Pobjie tightened the club's backline defences and played in the 1988-89 grand finals, the last as a reserve.

He is now a sports teacher at STF primary school tumbi umbi. I am one of his students and he is the favorite teacher of all. He is great at teaching and sports and everything else but us year sixes could win against the whole school. We are grateful for his help and will miss him when we go to high school.
