Biography

Former Wynnum-Manly forward, a winner of the Brisbane domestic competition's Rothmans Medal in 1989, came to St George the following year. Tierney could not break into either of St George's grand final teams in 1992-93 and his subsequent season with Wests was a rank disappointment. Resurrecting his career at Manly in 1996 he played in the club’s grand final win against his former club St George before being chosen in Queensland’s State of Origin team in the divided ARL season in 1997.
