    An outstanding fullback from Waratah-Mayfield

Ron was an extremely gifted player of aboriginal heritage who on his day could kick goals from anywhere on the field and toy with rival defences at will.

On a bad day however he could be a big liability

A brilliant fullback, great anticipation, good hands, magical timing, with a step, swerve and acceleration - he glided like a hover craft - every club in Sydney was after him, but his heart could never leave the bush and his aboriginal ancestry. He could box as well, but most importantly he was a good fellow and everyone spoke well of him. From a north Newcastle blue bag that played against him .

Fantastic player on his day. Consistency in turning up was one of the major let downs. You never knew if Ron would turn up at kick off or even if he did if he would play the full match. I have heard he played a few games for the Dungog warriors pre Newcastle years

Anonymous from 17/7/2016 hit the nail on its head with his apt description of this outstanding player Ronnie Munro. Played with him at Waratah-Mayfield and saw him do some freakish things. One incident always comes to mind when I tell people about him. He had two players coming at him and they looked certain to score. Ronnie positioned himself to tackle one player around the legs then swung his body around as ball was passed and collected other player with his legs, all in one movement, saving the try.
