Biography

Long-serving North Queensland centre, a foundation player with the club after coming from Proserpine, assumed the North Queensland’ captaincy in 2001. Bowman was chosen in Queensland’s State of Origin team in 2000 and his maturity in the Maroons’ ‘back from the dead’ Origin win in 2001 was a revelation. Bowman scored two tries in Queensland’s 40-14 thrashing of NSW in the deciding match. Bowman was a regular visitor to the State of Origin arena during the next five years but missed rep selection in the 2006 season. The last foundation player that started with the club a decade before, Bowan was rewarded for his longevity with a place in the North Queensland’ grand final team in 2005.
