McArthur scored the last ever try in a first grade match at Prattern Park. He scored a try for Western Suburbs against Penrith in the last ever match played there in 1985.

Not many people would know that John could have been a champion motorcycle rider but chose Rugby League as his sport. I know he still rides his motorcycle and has raced at Eastern Creek Raceway.

The best utility player that I have ever seen play in the NRL todate. John could play anywhere in any position in the team and did so for the Bears. Tough and super fit, he rarely missed a game through injury. Because of his versatility, he never received the recognition he truly deserved. Not a weakness in any facet of his game.

Great Player and Clubman for Norths.
