Biography

Former Norths hooker/forward joined Melbourne in 1999 and although he was the club’s hooker in the inaugural game against the Steelers he came off the bench in the Storms’ grand final win over St George I’warra that year. Williams’ career, in which he appeared in over100 games with Melbourne from the interchange bench, was a good indication of the modern role of the utility forward. In 2004 he was suspended for 18 weeks for king-hitting W’Tigers forward Mark O’Neill (Williams used the unusual defense of ‘post traumatic amnesia’ and refused to apologise for the attack) and joined the London Broncos for 2005.
