Biography

Former Souths halfback played in the club's reserve grade grand final win in 1983 (at lock) before having a long career with I’warra. Mackey, who had had a season with Paris club Chattillion in 1983-84, joined defending premiers C’bury in 1989 but was released by the club at the end of the season. He later made his mark in English club football, playing first for Warrington before moving to Hull midway through the 1989-90 season. Mackey captained the club to premiership success in 1991, setting up two tries and winning the Harry Sunderland Medal as player of the premiership final. He later returned to Warrington and played in the tour match against the 1994 Kangaroos.

    Great bloke & a all round champion at what ever sport he played. I played hockey with him in 1978 always knew he was destined for greater things in sport. Cheers blood nut.
