Match Notes

Reports say that Newcastle started one man short, no reason given. No initial given for the player who converted Charlie Croft's try for Newcastle (Carpenter), assumed Stan. Newcastle was said to have their "full complement of players" available for the second half, but Lawson on the wing fell awkardly, broke his arm and was taken to hospital. During the second half, a small hose was discovered on the ground which was hooked up to a water supply. J. Smith, Newcastle's fullback, was knocked out at one stage, and players took a moment to have a "head bath and a drink".
