Match Notes

Col Brown dropped out of a 14 man Canterbury team & Peter Louis replaced Merv Hicks who had suffered a fractured skull during the week in a fight at the hotel he managed in the city.

Penrith lost Bob Mara & John Moran on Saturday morning both with the flu they were replaced by Mal McMartin & Paul Gibson.

Referee Arthur Neville had the flu and was replaced by reserve grade referee Jack Stewart in his first grade debut.

Canterbury replaced Marty Driscoll with a knee injury & John Darby with a bad shoulder at halftime with Barry Phillis & George Taylforth.
