Biography

Highly respected Cronulla captain was graded with the Sharks in 1978 and was a non-playing reserve in the historic grand final replay against Manly. For almost a decade, Hatch's tireless efforts at lock won him the respect of his peers and although slightly framed for a forward, he gave no quarter to his opponents. He represented the President's XIII team on their tour of Papua New Guinea in 1985 but his finest moment as captain came when the Sharks won the minor premiership in 1988. Hatch was named 'Dally M' Captain of the Year in 1985 and 1988 but retired at the end of the 1990 season after suffering a broken cheekbone.
