Biography

St George junior (Panania) earned a cult following with his characteristic goal-kicking style – arm raised as if in salute – in his four seasons with the Dragons. Riddell was also decidedly mobile for a big man and his barging displays and ability with the boot earned him match-winner status with the club. The chunky hooker battled fitness and motivation problems in his two seasons under former team-mate Nathan Brown and he was often relegated to the interchange bench. Towards the end of the 2004 season the leading point-scorer in the short history of the St George I’warra club announced his decision to sign with P’matta in order to cement a regular place in the Eels’ starting line-up.
