Biography

Versatile player, originally a centre/winger with St George, captured the lock position at P’matta in 2001. After playing five-eighth in Queensland’s victorious State of Origin series Wagon was chosen in Australia’s 18-man squad that went to NZ for the one-off Test in July but pulled out of the team because of injury. A tireless worker during P’matta’s grand final assault that year he was chosen to tour with the Kangaroos after the Eels’ 30-24 loss to the Knights but was rested from the Australian Test team that defeated Papua New Guinea in October. Despite the decision to go ahead with the Kangaroo Tour (in light of the invasion of Afghanistan) Wagon could not force his way in the Australian team in any of the three Tests played and therefore, lost his Australian representative status.
