An absolute workhorse on the field and one of the best men you could ever meet off the field.

One of the great front-rowers of the all time. Anyone would have to agree with him when he famously said "Penrith had no chance without me!" Obviously a genius reader of the game with all the skills (and more) of Beetson, Hall, Stehr, Hemsley, Lazarus and Steve Sharpe. A priceless and indispensable ornament to the game.

The appraisal above is a masterpiece of understatement. Not only did he have an appreciation of, and an ability to regularly share his insightful thoughts with his adoring fans regarding his own greatness, but his intellect was far and away his finest asset.

His work with then Balmain reserve grade halfback Ron Ryan was impeccable, what a waste of talent, oh well that’s rugby league

Embodied everything that is good about our great game. Elite athleticism of the very highest order. A grand team man who gave his all in every game. A brilliant reader of the game with a Cameron Smith-like ability to read the direction of a set from three or four plays away. Devilish, fearless defender. Outstanding raconteur. The well-honed wine palate of a James Halliday. This bloke has it all.

A player of rare dedication and prodigious skill in both attack and defence. Feverishly sought after in the day by any club with premiership aspirations, this colossus of the game would be in the $1 million-plus per season category today. Made next-level forward play look easy with his deft hands and lightening speed. Probably. Rumoured to be a shoe-in as the next immortal. Only downside is that he can be a bit tight.
