Biography

St George junior, a highly consistent back rower during his four seasons with the Steelers, played for Sheffield Eagles and Castleford in England before joining his former coach Brian Smith at St George. Under Smith, Hardy repaid the faith shown in him with his high work-rate in the finals and forced Kangaroo lock Brad Mackay to the reserve bench. Hardy started the 1992 grand final against Brisbane but was on the interchange bench in the premiership decider the following year. After coming into the grand final earlier than expected with the injury to Jason Stevens, Hardy was not as effective as a stop-gap prop in St George's 14-6 loss. Hardy was a frequent interchange forward with Saints, right up to the club’s amalgamation with I’warra in 1998. In 2001 he was appointed to the NRL Judiciary Panel.

Jeff Hardy has the distinction of scoring the last ever try in a first grade match at Seiffert Oval.He scored that try for Illawarra during their 16-6 loss to Canberra at Seiffert Oval in 1989.
