Biography

Talented five-eighth, the son of former Sharks clubman and lower grade coach John Dykes, made his first grade debut as an eighteen-year-old in 1995 after capturing the President’s Cup competition. 2001 was undoubtedly Dykes’ best year; battling a knee infection in hospital the week before taking the field against Newcastle in the preliminary final. However, after seven seasons in the top grade (and six visits to the semi-finals), Dykes signed with runners-up P’matta for 2002. His three seasons with Eels, however, were in jury-ridden and he returned to Cronulla in 2005.
