Biography

Barwick had established a reputation as a powerful kicker in open play but was going nowhere with the Bulldogs until he followed coach Phil Gould to Penrith in 1990. There he developed into a rock-solid fullback with a devastating ability to chime into the attack. Barwick was an integral part of the Panthers' premiership-winning team in 1991 but joined Norths the following year. A series of injuries resulted in three seasons of obscurity with the Bears before signing with the Sydney Tigers for 1995 and showing something like his earlier form. Barwick spent the 1996 & 1997 seasons with the London Broncos.
