Biography

Originally from Chatham Island, Kiwi Test lock Brendon Tuuta’s aggressiveness caused howls of protest in the 1989 Test series against Australia (especially for his blatant kneeing of Australian vice-captain Paul Vautin). Tuuta was not as effective during his stay with Wests but forged a successful career in England with Featherstone Rovers (1990-96). In 1995 he was snared by the Western Reds for their debut season but returned to England to play out his career with Warrington (1996) and Castleford (1996-97).
