Cootamundra product first represented NSW in 1928 while playing for Young. A speedy lock forward and fine cover defender Kingston made his Test debut in Australia’s Third Test win over England in the 1928 Ashes series before touring with the 1929-30 Kangaroos. He played in 26 matches on tour, including the Third Test draw and historic Fourth Test against England. Kingston, who scored the most tries by a forward on the tour (18), crossed for 4 tries in the Kangaroos’ 42-19 win over ‘The Rest’ on his return to Australia. A member of Cootamundra’s Maher Cup team Kingston continued to represent NSW until 1934 when he decided to try his luck in Sydney with Wests. Kingston successfully sought a release from the club when he dropped to reserve grade and played for Werris Creek. He later moved to Nambucca Heads where he passed away prematurely, aged 49.

"Charles John", but always known as "Jack". He died, driving us to school. Whole family on board. None of us inherited his rugby prowess
