Hartley was a Challege Cup Winner with Hull KR in 1980 as well as being a member of the team that was runners-up in 1981. Hartley was also one of just 7 players to score a try against the Unbeaten 1982 Kangaroos. He scored a try for Hull KR in the 30-10 loss to Australia in opening game of the tour.

Vastly underrated, almost 200 club tries for Hull KR with only 3 international caps to show for it...

In his heyday he was a master at taking the ball at speed from anywhere between 50 and 80 yards from the line and rounding the best full-backs of the day...

Not necessarily Rovers greatest player but undoubtedly our greatest try-scorer…a genuine ‘one club man’ - when put into a gap from any distance it was odds on that ‘The Dancer’ would beat the full back and score!

Top try scorer in Rovers championship team of 1978/79, Hartley also scored memorable tries in the 1981 Premiership Final against Hull and against the 1982 Kangaroo Tourists.
