Biography
The son of Joe Gartner captained NSW Colts v. Great Britain in 1954 and went on to play 200 grade games for C’bury. A fine pivot who captained the club in 1961, Gartner died of leukemia in 1983.

Worked with ray at motor transport 1957 to 1962 ray was very
Easy to get on with & he was a great role model and encouraged
Us youger players that played Rugby League mostly remember his hair style slick black .
Rember him playing in the sydney colts team we had a great side in the public service comp plus our own comp of 4 teams

Ray was my boss back in the DMT when I was just a young bloke fresh out of school.
He was old school and not to much phased him, terrific bloke and easy to get along with.
Came down to the Domain and watched the guys play in the Public Service Comp along with some other old guys who were pretty handy footballers in the day.
It was a pleasure to know and work with Ray.
