Biography

Former Tamworth hooker played for Moss Vale, Taree and Maitland before being recommended to St George by Maitland captain-coach Robert Finch. In 1984 Guider suffered a back injury that revealed a rare kidney disease and he gave the game away for a while. Returning to the club in 1985, Guider had a memorable grand final day - playing in the St George Under 23's win over P’matta before being called on as a replacement in the reserve grade clash. After playing his part in the 22-16 win over Canberra, he was then used as a second half replacement for first grade rake Phil Ritchie. Guider went within an ace of making it three premierships on the day but St George was beaten by C’bury, 7-6. The pint-sized hooker captained the Dragons in 1986 but gave up his promising career to study Scientology.
