    Kel Brown played for New South Wales against Queensland in 1970 while living in Dubbo. He moved to Sydney in 1971 to play with Eastern Suburbs Rugby League Club and played 17 first grade games in 1971 and 6 first grade games in 1972. He stayed with Eastern Suburbs till 1974 and moved to Brisbane Western Suburbs where he captained them to win the Brisbane premiership in 1975.

    Kel brown played rugby league for dubbo cyms in group X1 competition. In 1970 he represented NSW Country on their tour of New Zealand. On return of this tour he was selected as hooker for Country Firsts in the match against City Firsts @ SCG. He returned to Dubbo & was then selected for NSW to play Qld at SCG in the third game of the 1970 series. Later that he was selected to play for Country in the World Cup Trials against City.
    In 1971 he signed to play with Eastern Suburbs in the Sydney competition and played 17 games in first grade in his first year. In 1972 he played 7 first grade games. He remained at Eastern Suburbs for 1973 & 1974 seasons, however injuries prevented him from playing in first grade in these years. In 1975 He moved to Brisbane to play with Western Suburbs and was captain of the club in their premiership win that year. In 1976 he remained at Wests as they won the premiership again.In 1977 he returned to Dubbo & played his final year as Captain Coach of Gilgandra in Group 14.
